Thought I'd share some process with you all:
Inked a quick sketch. I don't use waterproof ink; I sometimes like the bleed so I can block in tones.
Blocking in some bg color for contrast.
Laying in some more color. I'll end up hating that red dirt hole in the foreground ...
And hours later after painting many many mistakes that I'll never post, you have a finished painting. I like to use gauche, BTW.
